Even though the whole world as we know is gone, in the film, and every system which was running it is now so useless in this apocalyptic world, the Hotel Ozone still represents or reminds us a material world. The old man living there seems also holding tight on this material based life or his old good days. I could see "culture" in some shape by how he behaves, dresses and talks, and it looks out of place in the situation of apocalypse.

A question of animal cruelty
In 1966 animal cruelty hadn't really been addressed as a problem. Therefore, the movie shows the REAL shooting of a dog and skinning/gutting of a cow. During this period of time, real animal rights movements (like PETA which was established in 1980) hadn't been created and so the movie industry was free to use animals in almost any way they saw fit.
Clip
In this video clip the women are shown to be violent to animals and the surrounding areas. But in this post apocalyptic world they are only doing this for survival. Through out the movie the young ladies are taking charge and making sure that they can eat. But with the leadership of the elder woman. When I cut down more parts of the movie ill post more clips that show this roll of leadership and the disrespect of the elders.

Apocalyptic & Post-Apocalyptic Fiction
I think the film we are currently working on is pretty much related to the theme of apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic fiction, so I decided to do some research and write something about it.
Apocalyptic/Post-Apocalyptic fiction, these two categories are part of sci-fi genre. It has something to do with apocalypticism, which is a religion that believe the world/human civilization/lives on this planet will come to an end very soon. In the world of films and literature, zombies, disastrous outbreak, space plagues, mysterious invasion from outer space and all are also counted into this genre. I think this theme is kinda cool and interesting because I pretty much believe that our advance technology will grant us quite a bad impact someday. Anyway, the word "apocalypse" is actually retrieved from the Greek word which basicallty means the end of the world. So that is like the general idea of this stuff in a nutshell.
Another side of the story...
Although the brief description behind the DVD of the movie would be as mellow as 'Nuclear war has destroyed most of civilization. A pack of wild girls search for males who can give them children.' There are a deeper aspects of the movie that we have discover throughout the lectures. It is not always about a girls that just want to find someone who can give them children; deeper down, this movie demonstrate a whole lots of aspects of the nuclear effects on the world.
